Hinge Cut Deer Habitat
Hinge cut trees for deer habitat can be one of the greatest, renewable habitat resources for the appropriate set of habitat circumstances. While I only recommend hinge cutting activities for roughly 25% of the client parcels that I visit, hinge cutting is as viable a tool in any experienced deer manager's tool box. Deer need woody browse as much as high quality food, and if a tree is the right size and variety, a hinge cut can provide both cover AND browse for decades to come.
